“...the body has its invariably public dimension; constituted as a social phenomenon..., my body is and is not mine. Given over from the start to the world of others, the body is only later, and with some uncertainty, that to which I lay claim as my own.”
Judith Butler, Undoing Gender

Celebration is a durational performance created for galleries and museum spaces.
The idea for the work came after my first meeting with tattoo artist Olivia Jacquet, in which she said to me: “I have become use to having people look at me, even if they don't really see me. I often feel I'm displaced, that I have to adapt to the situation or the context around me.”
The performance is a moment in which Olivia defines her ground, modifing its surfaces, endlessy filling it with visual material that she desires to be surrounded by.
She has decided to reveal herself to the audience, in her habitat. The audience is therefore invited to participate to the celebration.
