Per immediatezza si intende la capacità di instaurare un coinvolgimento diretto con qualcosa, senza mediazioni, portando ad un senso di urgenza e eccitazione diffusa in chi guarda. I rappers usano il flow, la qualità di scandire le parole ritmicamente, creando attenzione immediata su ciò che viene detto.
Choreographing Rappers utilizza la danza e il corpo come le parole dei rappers, restando lontano dai codici del ballo hip-hop, creando densità e frammentazione nel danceflow. Il titolo di questo progetto prende spunto dalla traccia "Signifying Rapper" di SchoollyD (1988), che rinvia alla guerriglia linguistica e la manipolazione del linguaggio peculiare del rap e dal conseguente libro “Il Rap spiegato ai Bianchi” (1990) di D.F. Wallace e M. Costello, che esplora la storia del fenomeno e le sue intersezioni con il contesto storico.

The project aims to reflect using contemporary choreography on the construction of the hip-hop songs focusing on the concept of Immediacy of Rap: “The quality of bringing one into direct and instant involvement with something, giving rise to a sense of urgency or excitement”. (Oxford Dictonary)
Rappers use their flow, the rhythmic structure that arises in a rap from the interaction between the rapper’s words and the strictly musical rhythms of those words. Choreographing Rappers use dance as the words of rappers, displacing movements like words creating density, intensity and fragmentation in the danceflow. The title of this project is based on the track "Signifying Rapper” by SchoollyD (1988) and “Signifying Rappers: Rap and Race in the Urban Present” (1990), a nonfiction book by D.F. Wallace and M.Costello, that explores this music's history as it intersects with historical events.
